Trip to Israel December 29, 2019-January 9, 2020

I first saw slides on the lands of the Bible when I was six years old. From the Sunday night Carmack Skelton told of his trip at the Fairfield Church of Christ until I went the first time in July 1973, I considered what it would be like to visit those places we read about in the Bible.
I wasn’t disappointed. Coming across the hill, observing the Sea of Galilee in the distance below, walking beside the lake, thinking of the events that happened there, spending the night in Tiberius, taking a ride in a boat looking at the hills and seashore Jesus saw 2,000 years ago was a delight.
Standing at the headwaters of the Jordan River at Caesarea Philippi and recalling the conversation of Jesus and His apostles recorded in Matthew 16, brought insights that never came to mind before.
Walking the streets of Old Jerusalem with smells and sounds of the marketplace was an experience that’s staid with me. Jesus walked these streets and carried His cross down one of them. We’ll walk the traditional “way of the Cross.”
Other highlights will be spending a night at the Dead Sea, visiting the place where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered, and Jericho.

We’ll see shepherds with their sheep and camels walking the roads in Israel. Other places of interest: Tel Aviv, Megiddo, Mt. Carmel, Caesarea, Mt. Gilboa, Mt. Tabor, Masada, Spring of Harod, Beth Shean, Nazareth, Capernaum and its synagogue, the Jordan River…

…and much more.
The food is delicious, fellowship is great with some you probably know and new friends you’ll make.
